I met a neighbor today and she said hi to me and called me by my name. I was immediately so embarrassed I didn’t know hers, so I asked it. I’ve been repeating her name in my head every few minutes and sometimes out loud to make sure I don’t forget it.

That effort is never wasted.

I used to wonder why some people were so terrible at remembering people’s names when I was so good at it and found it rather easy. Then one day I figured out it is about effort.

I spell things so frequently with the English spelling versus the American one that somehow my MacBook has got my spellcheck correcting the American spellings of words like ‘neighbor’ which I just noticed it tried to correct to ‘neighbour.’ That’s crazy. I don’t know how that could happen. It’s rather annoying especially since niether is spelled wrong.
