A poem about being kind when others are unkind

Kind

by Benjamin Stone

I’m sorry it had to be this way.

I know you don’t believe me.

I tried to help you all the way.

I even took a beating.

I even walked alone for miles

To my Aunt Linda’s lonely funeral

Where I was the only one who wept

For more than just a memorial.

For I wept for the years I knew

I had to leave behind

For I was not abusing you.

I was being kind.
