Resolve

A slippery elm shoot coming from an old stump

by Benjamin Stone

I took this this morning on my first walk. It’s a very old stump of a slippery elm which very clearly was not dead when it was cut down, and a new shoot coming up from it. I wrote this poem just a minute ago and thought, “Well that would be a good way to illustrate ‘resolve.’” By the way — slippery elm bark is a very good heartburn/acid reflux treatment.

The you living your dream life

Is already real, you know.

Stop pretending that time is real,

It’s keeping you trapped down below.

Time’s an illusion, and so are the problems

You’re convinced you won’t be able to solve.

Have faith in yourself — Nothing else matters.

Let the world test your resolve.

They’re the ones who cannot evolve.
