This woman was not buried here. She was not killed by “Indians” and she died in either 1794 or 1801. In her day they called people who looked like her “Indians.”

My family always said my grandfather had “Indian” in his blood but they had no idea where. I found it. That’s a common story if your family settled in this area. Her daughter Catherine Donelson married Thomas Hutchings who was the guy who preceded Captain John Donelson to Middle Tennessee and first surveyed what would become Nashborough and later Nashville. My mother’s maiden name was Hutchings. Think of the fucking generational karma I’m having to shed as a firstborn son of that line. But it ain’t no thing but a chicken wing. You know why??? Chicken thigh.
